Ahead of Thrive Sustainability, which takes place on Tuesday, May 12, as part of Cornwall Business Week, Mark attended Regen SW’s Renewable Energy Marketplace.
Taking place at Westpoint Arena in Exeter, Mark, the annual event features an exhibition, small talks and seminars all around renewable energy and sustainability.
The General Election was high on the agenda, with concerns about the impact the result may have on the sustainable industry. The Conservative’s plan to place a moratorium on onshore wind turbines was of particular interest.
Mark attended a General Election debate featuring Lord Robin Teverson (Lib Dems), the short-wearing Ben Bradshaw (Labour MP for Exeter), Diana Moore (Green party candidate for Exeter), and Neil Parish (Conservative MP for Tiverton and Honiton).
He also spoke to Sonya Bedford, head of renewables at Stephens Scown solicitor, Jean-Paul Bayley, who was facilitating a renewable word and drawing activity for Regen SW, and Bob Meier, director of energy and sustainability at Francis Clark.
Bob Meier said: “The issue with sustainability is prioritisation. How do you look after the long term when you feel beset by immediate pressing issues.”
